Proverbs 31:11 The heart of her husband trusts in her confidently and relies on and believes in her securely, so that he has no lack of [honest] gain or need of [dishonest] spoil.

To have the heart of your husband trust in you is a huge honor. Men are extremely protective of their hearts. They will readily give away their money, their time, and especially their bodies; however, they are quite watchful as to whom they give their hearts. However, when they come into contact with a Proverbs 31 Woman, despite their reluctance, they will give her their heart. They give their hearts to the Proverbs 31 Woman because with her, they find rest. They view her as a soft place to land in an effort to escape this peace-starved world.

I know some of you may be thinking, “I’m not married. How can this apply to me?” Rest assured; this verse applies to all godly women. Although you may be a single woman, you are still married. The single woman’s husband is the Lord. He is your Maker and your Husband. (See Isaiah 54:5.). So, the single woman merely asks herself, can God trust in me confidently and rely on and believe in me securely, so that he has no lack of honest gain or need of dishonest spoil? Whether married or single, what this verse requires is that you walk in integrity. Let your “yes” be “yes” and your “no” be “no.” (See James 5:12.). Don’t move with every wind that blows, but be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. (See I Cor. 15:58.). Nobody wants to be around people whose word means nothing. Everybody wants someone they can depend upon. So, do everything that you can to be a woman of your word then trust God to do the rest.

Those of you who are single, but desiring marriage will be light years ahead of those women who had to learn these things after marrying. From practicing with God, you will know how to be a good wife to your husband when you get one. You will also have God’s blessing upon your marriage because of your obedience to Him. So, single women, don’t skip over this verse. Catch the spirit of the text and apply it to your life. This will cause you to draw a real man of God to you and not just those faking a love for Jesus.

Now, back to the married woman… As you grow in the knowledge of the Word and walk in the wisdom you obtain from it, you will have a husband who trusts you with his heart. Because you walk in integrity, he will know that he can rely on you. He won’t have to worry that you’ve taken the mortgage payment to the mall or the grocery money to the nail shop. He also won’t have to worry that you’re seeing other men on the side, because your “yes” means “yes.” He’ll know you said, “I do” to him and him alone. He’ll also know that he can talk to you without your “giving him a piece of your mind.” The Word of God has taught you how to use kind words and soft tones. Now, you may be saying, “You don’t know my husband. He is a no good so and so and so…” This may be true, but God is able. Walk in integrity towards your husband as unto the Lord (See Eph. 5:22) and God will see to it that you are blessed. God keeps his promises. So, pray the Scriptures and believe you receive when you pray, and you will see your situations change.

In short, a Proverbs 31 Woman, whether married or single, is a woman who walks in integrity. She is such because she has learned how to lean and depend on God. Keep praying and growing in the knowledge of the Word and see if your husband or “Husband” doesn’t entrust you with his heart!
