Stress-Free Morning Routine for Back to School by Andrea George

It's back-to-school time. Here's to making it a more pleasant time!

Let’s go!  Let’s go!   Come on…you’re going to miss the bus!  I don’t know where your favorite jeans are; it’s not my responsibility.  What do you mean you still have homework?  Did you brush your teeth?  Let’s go!   I’m leaving…NOW!

Oh, I hope your mornings don’t sound like that above.  If it does, it’s not too late to turn that ship around.  The key to having a stress-free morning routine is to have a smooth bedtime routine.  Remember, a routine is something that is followed regularly, standard procedures.  Without the consistency you will have an uphill battle.

Here are some tips to a stress-free morning routine:

  • No yelling.  Raising your voice, albeit frustrated, is only going to escalate matters.
  • Early to bed, early to rise.  That one is simple.
  • Showers and baths should be taken at night.  You think you’ll have time in the morning, but you rarely do.
  • Look over all homework for completeness before bed; don’t assume it’s finished.
  • Before bed, ensure lunches are made, backpack is packed and there is no surprise, “Oh, I need xxx today!”
  • Give singular instructions.  Don’t say, “I want you to finish your homework, eat breakfast, get dressed, comb your hair, brush your teeth and be in the car by 8:15.”  To a child, that sounds like “blah, blah,  blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…”  One instruction at a  time works wonders.
  • Provide instructions once.  If you’re doing this, stop:  “Johnny, it’s time to get dressed.”  Two minutes later, “Johnny, we’re going to be late if you don’t get dressed now.”  Two more minutes later, “Johnny, honey, I told you to get dressed.”  “Johnny, Mommy is going to be late, now go get dressed.”  To a child that sounds like, “Oh, mom is good for asking about five more times before she really goes ballistic!”  Repeated requests only send the message that junior doesn’t really have to do it now.
  • Set consequences and stick to your guns.  If you tell your child the car is leaving at 8:15 sharp, make it happen.  Clearly, you can’t leave your child behind, so leaving without her isn’t an option.  Tell her you will be leaving whether she is ready or not.  Sending a 10-year-old to school with uncombed hair, pajamas and an empty belly might be just the catalyst for change.

You are the parent; you set the tone for the morning routine.  You need to be actively involved in the morning routine.  Follow the steps above and I guarantee, “Joy will come in the morning!”

Demolishing Containment! by Dr. Creflo Dollar

Have you ever watched a fish swim in a fishbowl? There is only so far it can go because it is forced to remain within the circular bowl it calls home. It is contained, and will never get out. Its only existence involves swimming around and around; its circumstances will never change. Unfortunately, there are many Christians who live a similar existence. They are seemingly trapped in their circumstances, and forced to go around in circles. This is not the way God wants His children to live. We have been given keys and strategies to demolish containment in our lives. It is up to us to take what belongs to us.

Two of the most potent weapons Satan uses to keep Christians contained are deception and distraction. Deception causes you to believe a lie, and distraction is an intrusion of the mind, designed to cause confusion. Any time these two attacks come against you, be certain Satan is trying to keep you confined to your present circumstances. He doesn’t want you to break out of the land of average and into the abundant life God has prepared for you. By keeping you contained, particularly in your finances, he limits your ability to help expand the Kingdom of God.

Financial increase is something God has promised His people. The Bible is a book of covenants, and wealth is a topic that is discussed in detail throughout the Scriptures. When you discover a promise from God, it belongs to you, when you release your faith. Once you believe you receive it, you must go after it, in the spirit realm, with great intensity.

Matthew 11:12 describes the stance a Christian must take when it comes to laying hold of the promises of God: “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.” When Jesus talks about “taking it by force,” he means to seize the things that are rightfully yours by applying your faith consistently, refusing to let up, even when you don’t see anything happening or changing. This is what it means to release violent faith.

I like to use the illustration of water dripping or running down a rocky surface or canyon. At first, the water doesn’t have a significant effect on the rock; however, if it continues to drip consistently, over time, it will begin to wear the rock down and cut a path through it.

This is the same way we must apply the Word of God against our circumstances. If debt is staring us in the face, we must consistently apply the force of God’s Word against that situation by speaking and acting on it to such a point where it begins to change and rearrange the situation. The same applies to lack and insufficiency. The Bible contains specific scriptures which promise abundance and provision. Don’t let them just sit in your Bible. Get them off the pages and into your heart! Speak them over your circumstances and watch the walls of containment begin to fall.

When you are consistent, you take the promises of God by force. Until the Word becomes a way of life, it can never become a reality, which is why it is so important that it holds first place in your life. Take the Word of God and allow it to be planted deep in your heart. Keep it before your eyes, going in your ears, and coming out of your mouth. When this type of consistency becomes a way of life, the devil has no choice but to get out of your way. Your words and life will become a force that will absolutely knock him down. You will no longer be like that fish in the fishbowl, but you will rise above your circumstances to possess all that God desires you to have and be all the He created you to be.

Highpoints on Limitless Vision

Last week, I attended Kenneth Copeland’s Southwest Believers Convention, which allowed for a week of immersion in the Word of God.  Today, I’d like to share some highpoints (as we used to do in Sunday School) of a couple of the messages I heard.  The Sunday before the convention, Bishop Jakes preached on submitting to vision.   Then on Monday of the convention, Jesse Duplantis preached on manifesting vision and Jerry Savelle preached on removing limitations.  Needless to say, God is up to something.  May you be blessed by these highpoints.  You may also check out the archive of these messages here.

Jesse Duplantis – If You Can’t See A Future, You Can’t Have A Future

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.  Proverbs 29:18

1.  Never be intoxicated with success, nor paralyzed by failure.

2.  Man cannot discover heavenly truths, they must be revealed.

3.  Not casting your care is a form of pride.

4.  When you stop talking about your vision, your vision starts talking about you.

5.  Vision must be manifested.  Must be translated into life.

6.  To manifest vision, there must be active communication with God.  Beware of getting on “cruise control.”

7.  Vision does not live in the realm of possibility.  It’s not about what you can do, but what God can do through you.

Jerry Savelle - Above and Beyond:  No Boundaries

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  John 17:16

1.  We are not marked by the world’s boundaries.

2.  Boundaries are not from God.  Most of them are self-induced through environment, culture, associations, what you were taught, what you listen to and read.

3.  Anytime somebody gets a revelation about a boundary, it will start a revolution.  Ex. Civil Rights Movement

4.  We have no more boundaries on us than Jesus had on him.

5.  We are not of this world.  We do not have this world’s limitations.

6.  Be the first.  Maybe God is calling on you to break the barrier in your family.

7.  Quit allowing others to put limitations on you.

8.  We accept limitations when in reality, we have none.

Free From Debt! by Kenneth Copeland

The borrower is servant to the lender.

 – Proverbs 22:7

If you’re up to your neck in debt today, I have good news for you. God wants to set you free from those debts and He has the power to do it.

I know.  He did it for me.

I’ll never forget it.  I had $22,000 worth of bad debts at the time.  I’d committed to God to pay them off and never borrow another dime–but it looked to me like I’d never be able to do it.

We didn’t see how, but we believed that “God is able.”  Day by day we looked to God for our deliverance from debt.  Not asking Him every day, but thanking Him because we believed we received when we prayed.  Eleven months later, we were out of debt.  As we looked back, nothing spectacular had happened, but God worked in our finances continuously.  As we were faithful, He was faithful.

God can do the same thing for you if you’ll dare to believe His Word.  If you’ll make a commitment before Him to get out from under those debts and then obey Him every step of the way.

As you look at your situation right now, you may not be able to see how you could ever get out of debt, much less stay that way.  I felt that way too, at first.  I just didn’t see how I’d ever be able to do much of anything without borrowing money.

But He showed me how–and He’ll do the same thing for you.

There’s no debt too big and no business too complicated for Him to handle. If you’ll trust Him to manage yours, He will bring you out on top…and you’ll never have to be a slave to debt again.
